MINUTES of the first meeting of THE Miramichi Branch of the N.B. GUIDES ASSOCIATION.

An organizing meeting of the Registered Guides of Northumberland County was held in the Town Hall, Newcastle, N.B. on Wednesday afternoon at 3 P.M. B.A. Tozer, President of the Newcastle Branch of the N.B. Fish & Game Protective Association, presiding, and W. H. Davidson acting as temporary Secretary.
After discussion of the purposes and benefits of organizing,it was moved by David A' Manderville, seconded by D.Benson O. McLeod and carried unanimously that the Registered Guides of Northumberland County organize as an Association under the name of The Miramichi Branch of the N.B. Guides' Association.
On motion a nomination committee consisting of David A Manderville, Derby; Howard Copp, Trout Brook; John L. Wishart, Tabusintac; Cleveland P. Price, Doaktown and Peter Fraser, Chatham was appointed to submit a slate of officers.
The Committee returned and recommended that David A. Manderville be elected President for the current year and that a Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer be elected by the meeting.
On motion the report of the Nomination Committee was received and accepted, and David A.Manderville was declared President of the Association for the current year.
The following officers were then elected by acclamation;
Howard Copp, Trout Brook - Vice President
O. Benson McLeod, Tabusintac - Secretary Treasurer.
On Motion of Frank Hayes, seconded by Cleveland Price and carried it was decided to appoint an Executive of seven members representative of the different districts and accordingly the following Executive was appointed :-
Frank Hayes representing Renous District
Millet S. Stewart, Lower Neguac - for North Shore District.
James Matchett, Curventon, for .North West Miramichi
Cleveland P. Price for South West Miramichi
Osborne Stewart, Silliker, for Little, South West
Allan Keating, Strathadam, for Central district -Newcastle
Peter Fraser. Chatham for South Shore District.

It was decided to adopt the Constitution and by-laws of the N.B. Guides' Association.

Moved by Frank Hayes, seconded by Howard Copp that the annual dues of this association be $3.00 for Camp-Owners and $2.00 for non-camp-0wners.

The Secretary was requested to get in touch with the N.B. Guides' Association in connection with having all Miramichi Guides who have paid in this year to the N.B. Guides' Association recognized am members of this Branch and the fees paid in by them this year credited to this Branch and to make arrangements as to the amount of per capita tax to be paid by this Branch to the N.B. Guides' Association.Discussion of matters of general interest was carried on and it was suggested that this Branch hold a Guides' Picnic at some convenient time and place during the summer months, and that the members of the Executive and Officers act as a Membership Committee for the purpose of getting all theMiramichi Guides join the Miramichi Branch.


On motion the meeting adjourned to meet at the call of the President.

“Where The Rivers Meet” The Fly Tyers of New Brunswick is the creation of Miramichi natives Dewey H. Gillespie and Walter Francis “Budd” Kitchen.  Since the early 1990’s they have collected and promoted information on New Brunswick Fly Tyers and now they wish to share this information with you.  The Fly Tyers represented in this collection were selected to acknowledge the contribution they made to the art of fly tying in the Province of New Brunswick.

Dewey and “Budd” graciously contribute this article to be published for your reading enjoyment.
