(A writing to Dewey Gillespie from a very respected friend AJH) Salmon fishing is a game of casting. I have never actually tried to figure out the average number of casts it takes to produce a strike or the average number it takes to actually land a fish, but I am sure that those numbers would be both surprising and significant. Constant casting can be tiring especially with heavy rods or with rods, reels, and lines that are out of balance. Even with properly balanced light weight equipment, the first few days on a salmon river can produce a few aches and pains in the shoulder and elbow of your casting arm that makes you wonder what you are doing wrong. Modern technology however, has come to the rescue, at least to some degree.

“Where The Rivers Meet” The Fly Tyers of New Brunswick the 2nd Time Around By Dewey H. Gillespie
“Where The Rivers Meet” The Fly Tyers of New Brunswick is the creation of Miramichi natives Dewey H. Gillespie and Walter Francis “Budd” Kitchen. Since the early 1990’s they have collected and promoted information on New Brunswick Fly Tyers and now they wish to share this information with you. The Fly Tyers represented in this collection were selected to acknowledge the contribution they made to the art of fly tying in the Province of New Brunswick. Dewey and “Budd” graciously contribute this article to be published for your reading enjoyment. Copyright © 2007
